Mrs. Essie Lee Wilkins

Mrs. Essie Lee Wilkins, who was 86 years old, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida. Originally from Poarch, Alabama, she spent most of her life in Pensacola. Mrs. Wilkins was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, where she connected with her community and built lasting friendships. Her warm spirit and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her. She was a joyful person who loved many things in life. Bingo being one which brought her happiness, money, and many friends. She also enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family, always wanting to see their smiles. She taught her two granddaughters, Macy & Paige how to make her family favorite Lemon Pound Cake. As many know Mrs. Wilkins had a big heart and was known to love hosting and ensured her home was open to all. She also had a passion for animals and helped find home for numerous dogs throughout her life. She herself had two small dogs who were a big part of her heart, and she loved taking them on adventures. She had a thrill for driving fast and a passion for dancing, always ready for a good time. Traveling was another joy, especially to Fredericksburg, Virginia, to see her grandkids to whom she was known as NaNa. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Wilkins; her parents, Adam Daughtry and Susieanna McGhee; as well as numerous brothers and sisters. Mrs. Wilkins is survived by her son, Kenneth Wilkins of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Inga Wilcox and husband Doug of Pensacola, Florida; brother, Charles Daughtry and wife Danna of Atmore, Alabama; sister, Emma Jane Owens of Land O Lakes, Florida; four grandchildren, Kyle Wilkins, Justin Wilcox, Macy Wilcox and Paige Wilcox. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Friendly Holiness Church with Brother Ray Ward officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at Friendly Holiness Church from 8:30 AM until service time at 10:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Justin Wilcox, Roger McGhee, Andrew Daughtry, Kendall Reed, Stan Ellison, Bubba O-Barr, and Robbie McGhee. Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC Atmore, Alabama is in charge of all arrangements.
