Mrs. Sonya Robinson Mims

December 4, 1966 - April 10, 2019

Mrs. Sonya Marie Robinson Mims, age 52, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. Mims was a native and life long resident of Atmore, AL. She was a 1985 graduate of Escambia County High School and was Drum Major choreographing her own routines. She was a loving wife, mother, sister; she had a strong spirit and loved helping others. She loved riding and training horses, writing songs, music and was an advocate for the National Kidney Foundation. She was a member of the Huxford Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Bessie Robinson and two brothers, Frank Henderson “Bo” Robinson and Randall Park Martin. She is survived by her husband of 8 months, Joe Frank Mims II of Atmore, AL; one daughter, Anna Marie Thomas of Atmore, AL; two step-sons, James Clayton (Ramona) Mims of Mexia, AL and Brandon D. (Kaylie) Mims of Robertsdale, AL; four brothers, Earnest Newman (Gaylin) Robinson of Montgomery, AL, Wyatt (Carol) Robinson of Atmore, AL, Lawrence “Brahama” Robinson of Wakulla, FL and Keith (Rochel) Martin of Atmore, AL; two sisters, Mary Frances (Junius) Long of Bay Minette, AL and Nelda Sue (Cassidy) Dukes of Atmore, AL and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. James Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at the Huxford Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:00 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
