Mr. Gordon Dewayne MCGhee

August 21, 1953 - July 18, 2021

Mr. Gordon Dewayne McGhee, age 67, was called home July 18, 2021. Gordon was a proud member of the Poarch Creek Indians. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Gordon was known for his infectious laughter and his compassionate spirit. Mr. Gordon loved his family, watching sports, hanging with friends, cooking for loved ones and eating. He was a die-hard Alabama football fan; he would watch Auburn football to be able to spend time with Jake and Beth. Generous to a fault and loved by all who knew him. He served in the United States Army for 14 years has a Staff Sergeant. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard (Hattie Mae) McGhee, brother, Howard Dewitt McGhee Jr; sister, Lonia Rebecca Fontenot Norman, niece, Ashkia Lynn Williams and great niece, Emersyn Kate Rolin. He is survived by four sons, Billy Plybon of Foley, AL; Michael Matthews of Ocala, FL; Jake McGhee of Atmore, AL; Gregory Howard of Atmore, AL; four daughters, Monica Carol McGhee Johnson of Brewton, AL; Janice Ann Plybon of Virginia Beach, VA; Natasha Lynn McGhee of Frisco City, AL; Beth McGhee of Mobile, AL’ two brothers, Gerry Dewayne McGhee of Atmore, Al; William Daniel McGhee of Poarch, AL; five sisters, Mary Louise Boyte of Atmore, AL; Georgia Lee Griffey of Atmore, AL; Cynthia Wright of Atmore, AL; Juanita Flowers of Atmore, AL; Lena Marie White of Atmore, AL; twenty- eight grandchildren, with many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 2:00 Pm at the McCullough Christian Center with Rev. Joe White officiating. Burial will follow at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, July 26, 2021 from 6:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM on Tuesday July 27, 2021at the McCullough Christian Center. Pallbearers will be Kenny Williams, James White, Bo Slate, Josh Hammac, Jason Griffey, Mikey Griffey, Larry Faircloth and Chris McGhee Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph McGhee, Johnny Mack Rolin, Deno Rolin, Billy Rolin, Thomas Rolin, Scott Jackson, LC and Ronnie Paul.
