Mr Melvin Stanley Rowell

Melvin “Mel” Stanley Rowell passed away peacefully at his home in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 9, 2026. Mel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was centered around his family. Even after his wife passed, his love for her never faded. He carried her memory with him daily, and those closest to him knew that a part of his heart always remained with her. Their enduring love was a testament to the bond they shared and the life they built together. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan and a lifelong sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching just about any sporting event he could find. He also spent countless hours following racing and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. Mel was well known for his sense of humor and his love of joking with family and friends. He greatly enjoyed picking on others in fun and sharing a laugh with those around him. His warm personality, playful spirit, and ability to bring a smile to someone's face will be remembered by all who knew him. Throughout his career as a truck driver, Mel traveled extensively across the country, taking pride in his work and enjoying the opportunity to see many different states along the way. The open road provided him with countless experiences and stories that he loved to share with family and friends. Above all else, Mel cherished his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that they will carry with them forever. Whether attending sporting events, sharing stories, watching races, or simply enjoying time together, family was always the most important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wessie Rowell; his parents, Broward and Francis Rowell; his son, Derik Rowell; his brother, Pete Rowell; his sister, Pauline Coffield; and his grandson, Christian Roye. Mel is survived by his children, Adam (Heather) Rowell, Kristi (Ronnie) Merchant, Chris Wiggins, and Sally Rowell. He was a proud grandfather to Gracie (Joshua) Ware, Makenzie (Robbie) Brown, Hailey (Zack) Batten, Camden Wiggins, Gavin Rowell, and Chris (Savannah) Romero. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Carter Ware, Royality Roye, Aurora Roye, and Isabella Romero, who brought tremendous joy to his life. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Mel is survived by his brother, Jerry (Ann) Rowell, and his sister, Judy (Mac) McGruder, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly. Mel's legacy is one of love, laughter, hard work, and devotion to family. Though he has departed this life, the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Beulah Chapel Cemetery with Brother John Reaves and Reverend Tim Floyd officiating . Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until service time at Beulah Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gavin Rowell, Zack Batten, Camden Wiggins, Robbie Brown, Joshua Ware & Chris Romero Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Rowell and Chris Wiggins
