Mr. Jamie Joshua Thomas

Jamie Joshua Thomas, age 46, of Poarch, Alabama, passed away on May 2, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida. Josh was born on February 17, 1980, in Slidell, Louisiana. He made his home in Poarch, Alabama for over 30 years, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and the simple joys of country living. As a devoted member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, he held the position of Executive Director in the Utilities department and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic and dedicated several years to serving on the recreational board. A man of deep roots and strong values, Josh was of the Episcopal faith and attended St. Anna's Episcopal Church. He found happiness in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and raising chickens and dogs. He loved spending time with his family, especially cooking and gathering for gumbo, crawfish, and crab boils. A devoted sports fan, Josh proudly supported the New Orleans Saints, Alabama football, and enjoyed boxing and UFC. Josh was preceded in death by his father, Dorman Jamie Thomas; his grandfather, Dorman Charlie Thomas; and his grandparents Joe O’Barr Sr. and Bessie Elizabeth O’Barr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, of fifteen years, Jennifer “Martin” Thomas of Poarch, Alabama; his mother, Shada Thomas of Poarch, Alabama; his sons, Major Thomas and Deacon Thomas, both of Poarch, Alabama; his daughter, Brantlie Thomas (K.D. Rabb) of Poarch, Alabama; his brother, Jake Thomas of Poarch; and his grandchild, Kasden Rabb, his grandmother, Nelda Faye Stogner Thomas, of Slidell, Louisiana. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly. A funeral service will be held at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Bo Ramer officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2026 from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC Pallbearers will be John O’Barr, Jason Thomas, Jerry Faircloth, Nathan Smith, Trent Jackson, Josh Martin, Delmar Weaver, and Jake Carlton. Honorary pallbearers include Rodney Brady, Phillip Martin, Duddy Estain, Bo Slate and Jamie Ramer. Josh will be laid to rest at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery. Josh will be remembered for his strength, his love for family, and the way he brought people together. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the lives he touched.
