Mrs. Betty P Watson

Betty Peavy Watson passed away peacefully at her home in Atmore, Alabama, on Monday, March 2, 2026, surrounded by her family. While she will be missed tremendously, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and no longer suffering. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Jackson “LJ” Watson Jr.; her son, Robert Bryan Watson; her great-granddaughter, Anna-Grace Faith Stanley; her parents, James Victor Peavy and Era Mae Peavy; her brothers, Jerry Peavy, James Peavy, Thomas Peavy, Charles Peavy, and Larry Peavy; and her sister, Mary Snow. She is survived by her sons, Keith Ryan Watson, Kevin Lee Watson, and Doug (Charlotte) Purvis; and by her brother, Donnie (Donna) Peavy. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren: Randon Watson, Karmen Watson, Jennifer (Robbie) Stanley, Brylee Watson (Ricky), and Elizabeth (Matt) Mauldin; her twelve great-grandchildren: Robert, Raycer, Landon, Ollie, Colton, Kastyn, Lynnix, Caroline, Kenzie, Truyen, Chosyn, and Ellie; along with two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was known by many names — Mama, Grandma, Maw, Gran-Betty, Betty Pearl and “Betty Queen.” No matter what she was called though, she answered to it. Betty enjoyed traveling in her earlier years, including two cross-country road trips and visits to the mountains she loved. But she was just as content at home. Usually, you could find her sitting at her kitchen table with the TV on, watching out the back window as she waited for hummingbirds to come to her feeder. She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who filled the room with laughter and a little bit of chaos. The family would like to extend special thanks to Tierra Jackson, Karen Metts, and Brigitte Covington for the love and care they gave her during her final years. While Betty will be deeply missed, her family is comforted knowing she is at peace. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC with Sister Beth Linam officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Robbie Stanley, Robert Stanley, Randon Watson, Raycer Watson, Ricky Waltman, & Doug Purvis Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Peavy, Jeremy Metts, Shawn Linam & Marshall Wall
