Mrs. Amanthia Michelle Merchant

Mrs. Amanthia Michelle Merchant, age 67, of East Brewton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 8, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama, Amanthia was the daughter of the late Byron Stuckey and Clara "Ikner" Stuckey. She spent the last fifteen years making her home in East Brewton, where she became known for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and kind heart. A devoted member of East Brewton First Assembly, Amanthia found great joy in worshiping the Lord and studying His Word. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life and was evident in the compassion, grace, and love she extended to everyone she met. Amanthia enjoyed crocheting, drawing, and reading, especially her Bible. She treasured spending time with her family and loved traveling with her husband, creating countless memories together. She will be remembered for her sweet personality, tender heart, and willingness to encourage and care for others. Her warmth and gentle nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Byron Ratliff; and her sister, Vanessa Powell. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 16 years, James Merchant of East Brewton, Alabama; her daughter, Michelle Lynn Ratliff of Jay, Florida; her brothers, William (Grace) Stuckey of Atmore, Alabama, and Richard Byron (Lorraine) Stuckey of Atmore, Alabama; her sister, Clarise Stuckey of Atmore, Alabama; numerous grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing that Amanthia's faith has become sight and that she is now resting in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of love, kindness, and steadfast faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLS with Reverend Jeff Scurlock and Brother William Stuckey officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 10:00 AM until service time at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC.
